Added test for instantiating ProjectData

Remove some try catch blocks

Successfully runs both with and without gui.

This happens when OGS_BUILD_GUI=ON, see also #679.

Improve point type constructors

Using the removed constructor was insecure because there was neither a
compile time check nor a run time check if the size of the C array holds
enough data.
