Making OGS Tools available in DataExplorer
There are a number of command line tools that offer functionality not available in the Data Explorer.
This issue collects the tools that should (or maybe should) be added to the GUI.
1. Should be added:
-
Translating Data -
MoveGeometry -
MoveMesh
-
-
Voxelgrid-Tools -
Layers2Grid -
Vtu2Grid -
AddFaultToVoxelGrid
-
-
ExtractBoundary (works for 3D but currently not for 2D meshes)
2. Should maybe be added (requires discussion!)
2.1. Raster Tools
Rasters are currently only handled as visualisation objects. Modifying them would probably require a fair amount of changes, even though the tools themselves are fairly simple
-
AssignRasterDataToMesh (should be easy because the Raster need not actually be handled by the GUI) -
Mesh2Raster (should be easy if we just write and display the result) -
CreateIntermediateRasters -
Raster2ASC
2.2. 1:n Conversion Tools
For some file formats, one input file can result in potentially 100s of output files. It's not a technical problem to add those, but we should discuss if this is actually useful to have in the GUI.
-
NetCDFConverter (a simple interface is available) -
GocadTSurfaceReader (a simple interface is available) -
GocadSGridReader -
TecPlotTools (can only parse raster-like data at the moment, but one file can contain lots of rasters)
This also applies to PVTUs and XDMF files. (Technically also to SWMM-files, but these are probably to rarely used anyway.)
3. Need not be added
Tools dealing with quadratric Meshes are ignored for now. Also tools that are probably used very infrequently or are not used by a wide range of users (e.g. VerticalSliceFromLayers, NodeReordering, SWMMConverter, etc.)
Here's my extremely unprofessional spreadsheet for a complete list of existing tools.
