Some fields were not tested, before, and HeatFlowRate in the old
reference files looked strange (nonzero in the interior of the domain).

The transform-version, suggested by WW, is much faster than the for-loop
version. For the test example, a cube with 10^7 hex elements, partitioned into
800 partitions the run time for the function was reduced from 1.4 s to 0.8 s.

Another improvement on top, suggested by DN, was to use ranges and views.
With this the runtime was further reduced to 0.71 s.
